** New ** Programme on Implementation (POI) of NABH Standards in Ayothidoss Pandithar Hospital, National Institute of Siddha from 31-8-2016 to 2-9-2016

National Institute of Siddha (NIS), Chennai has initiated actions in compliance with direction of Secretary, Ministry of AYUSH for applying to NABH accreditation to Ayothidoss Pandithar Hospital attached with National Institute of Siddha. After the online registration of NIS in NABH, action plan has been drawn for submission of application for NABH accreditation. As part of fulfilment of action plan and sensitising each section of Hospital, it was proposed to organise a Programme on Implementation (POI) of NABH standards course in NIS. The POI of NABH Standards course for Siddha Hospitals was conducted in National Institute of Siddha from 31-8-2016 to 2-9-2016 (3 days).
Dr.Niranjana Murthy, Bangalore -Principal Assessor (Ayurveda) of NABH and Dr.A.Rajendra Kumar, Pondicherry NABH-Assessor(Siddha) participated as Faculty members of the course. National Institute of Siddha has made arrangement for the participation of 35 staff which includes -Doctors, Paramedical, Auxiliary staff and Administration staff as a multidisciplinary team to get sensitised and prepare an Apex Manual for covering the 10 Chapters of NABH standards in NIS, Chennai. The course materials were supplied from NABH, New Delhi.
POI Course: 31-8-2016 to 2-9-2016
First day -the course was inaugurated by Prof.Dr.S.Geethalakshmi, M.D.,Ph.D., Vice Chancellor, The T.N.Dr.MGR Medical University, Chennai, Presided over by Prof.Dr.V.Banumathi, M.D(S) Director, NIS to give impetus to the programme and responsibility of team. After the inauguration, the POI was started with pre-test at our Auditorium at 10.30 AM.
Dr.Niranjan Murthy Faculty Member gave an extensive elaboration on Introduction to the POI followed by 4 Chapters of NABH standards. The first day programme has extended upto 7.00 PM for imparting the nitty-gritty of each chapter and relating the requirements to NIS. Dr.A.Rajendra Kumar has given bilingual explanation as the participants were drawn from security personnel to Top Managerial persons such as Professors, Hospital Superintendent etc. Then second day programme started at 9.00 AM, Dr.Niranjana Murthy and Dr.A.Rajendra Kumar both handled the programme to complete the 10 chapters. Director, NIS in-spite of her busy schedule visited the POI in between session and interacted with participants on second day for understanding their attitude and commitment towards the implementation of NABH standards. Third day Dr.Niranjana Murthy gave Broad guidelines for implementation and filling the application form emphasising the documentation part and performing internal assessment. Then all participants were given time to speak about their learning and action plan for preparing Apex manual and implementation. Post-test conducted followed by Feed back. The course ended with valedictory session wherein Director has emphasised the need for NABH accreditation to improve and sustain the quality health care services in NIS which would lead to developing Siddha as evidence based system.
