NIS is taking part in Suposhit Bharat to attain Malnutrition free India by 2022. Nutrition solutions based on Siddha wisdom will be an integral part of the Rashtriya Poshan Maah – 2021 celebrations during the month of September this year. This will further accelerate various activities under POSHAN Abhiyaan programme, by following all COVID-19 protocols.
 
The programme has special focus on reducing the level of stunting, under-nutrition and low birth weight in children, and anaemia in adolescent girls, pregnant women, lactating mothers as well as children.
 
Siddha system of medicine emphasis on food and habits, and have unique knowledge on the subject. This knowledge will be scientifically adapted to add momentum to the POSHAN Abhiyaan tasks.
 
NIS will customize its ongoing awareness campaign during the month of September this year by focusing on the theme “Converging towards a health walk through life” which is directly related to the subject of nutrition, and reach out to the public with targeted messages.

Rashtria Poshan Maah (Suposhit Bharat – National Nutrition Mission) is India’s flagship programme to improve nutritional outcomes of people. Under the guidance of Prof. Dr. R. Meenakumari, Director NIS, the efforts have been made to consolidate the multiple activities by National Institute of Siddha for Children, Adolescent girls and Lactating mothers by different set of disseminating activities.
