NIS has started the Second Siddha COVID Care Centre (SCCC) on 19/05/2021
With the number of cases on the rise during the second wave of COVID-19, the renowned institution for Siddha Medicine, National Institute of Siddha at Tambaram Sanatorium, started it's second 150 bedded Siddha COVID care centre with the support of Chengalpattu district administration from 19/05/2021 onwards at SDNB Vaishnava College for Women, Shanthi Nagar, Chromepet, Chennai- 600 044.
This new facility was inagurated by Mr. T. R. Balu, Member of Parliament, Shriperumbudur constituency in the presence of Mr. T. M. Anbarasan, minister for Rural Industries, Cottage Industries, Small Industries, Slum clearance board, Government of Tamil Nadu, Mr. Karunanidhi, MLA, Pallavaram, The district collector, chengalpattu and Prof. Dr. R. Meenakumari, Director, NIS and other dignitaries, officials.
This centre also would offer Siddha- based treatment for COVID-19 patients with asymptomatic mild to moderate COVID cases. Doctors, nurses and supporting staff attached to the NIS Siddha Hospital will be posted shift duties. This centre will focus upon Siddha treatment and research in the management of COVID -19 positive patients by providing Siddha Medicines Kabasura kudineer, Nilavembu kudineer, Amukkura chooranam, Nellikkai leggiyam, Notchi kudineer, Thalisathy vadagam, Brahmananda bhairavam, Adathodai Manapagu, Siddhar yogam and meditation practices, steam inhalation, gargling etc.,
