Vigilance Awareness Week (VAW) is being celebrated every year and coincides with the birthday of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, known to be a man of high integrity.
The Central Vigilance Commission has instructed that this year Vigilance Awareness Week should be observed from 27.10.2020 to 02.11.2020 with the theme Satark Bharat, Samriddh Bharat – सतर्क भारत, समृद्ध भारत (Vigilant India, Prosperous India). Corruption can be defined as dishonest or unethical conduct by a person entrusted with a position of authority, either to obtain benefit to oneself or to some other person. It is a global phenomenon, affecting all strata of society in some way or the other and encourage towards efforts for weeding out corruption.
When the entire World is facing Covid -19 pandemic, National Institute of Siddha has observed Vigilance Awareness Week 2020 by strictly adhering to the guidelines / rules preventing spread of Covid 19. Many faculty/staff and PG scholar actively participated in various competitions organized by NIS.
The observance of the Vigilance Awareness Week 2020 commenced with the Integrity Pledge by Prof.Dr.R.Meenakumari, Director along with all officers, employees and PG scholars of the Organization. Various activities like Essay Competition, Debate, Rangoli, Quiz etc. were organized and prize winners were awarded with cash prize and Certificate of Appreciation.
The purpose of Vigilance Awareness Week is to create awareness in the minds of employees at large about the ill effects of corruption.
The valedictory function and prize distribution ceremony was held at NIS, today (03.11.2020). Dr. Radhika Madhavan Dy. Supdt welcomed the gathering. Prof. Dr. R. Meenakumari, Director delivered the keynote address and distributed the prizes and cash award for winners. Dr. Nalini Sofia, Lecturer hosted the event for Prize winners. Jt. Director (Admn), Dean, Hospital Supdt. HoDs, Asso Professors and Lecturers also distributed certificates to prize winners. Special gifts were given to House keeping and Security Personnels to encourage them to enthusiastically participate in such programs in future. Dr. P. Shanmugapriya, Associate Professor and CVO delivered vote of thanks and concluded the event.
