National Institute of Siddha (NIS) had organized “Hands on Training Programme on Pharmacological Screening Methods for Siddha Drugs” from 22.03.2023 to 23.03.23 at this institute campus exclusively for PG scholars of Govt. Siddha Medical College (GSMC), Chennai.
The Director Prof. Dr. R. Meenakumari inaugurated the training programme. In her key note address, she encouraged the participants to learn and update the screening techniques employed in the scientific validation of efficacy and safety of Siddha formulations.
Prof. Dr. M. Meenakshi Sundaram, Dean i/c, has delivered the felicitation address. Members of the organizing committee Dr. V. Suba, Assistant professor of Pharmacology (In-charge of Animal facility of NIS), Dr. B. R. Senthilkumar, Assistant professor of Physiology (Member Secretary, IAEC, NIS) and Dr Reshmee Thomas, Veterinarian conducted the training programme.
This training was aimed get an idea about of how to conduct a research study as well as evaluating the pharmacological activity of a drug. The participants were trained on animal handling, oral route of drug administration, pharmacological screening methods like analgesics, anti-inflammatory, anxiolytics, anti-depressants, CNS depressants and skeletal muscle relaxants.
