National Institute of Siddha (NIS), in collaboration with the Regional Resource Hub for Health Technology Assessment (HTA), ICMR–National Institute for Research in Tuberculosis (NIRT), and the Department of Health Research, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, organized an Orientation Programme on Health Technology Assessment (HTAIn) on July 17, 2025, at NIS, Tambaram, Chennai. 
 
Programme Highlights:
Prof. Dr. G.J. Christian, Dean – Research, welcomed the Participants, Resource persons and set the tone for the programme.
 
Dr. M. Muniyandi, Scientist-E and Regional HTA Coordinator, delivered a detailed presentation on the scope and significance of HTA in India, covering key concepts such as— Cost-effectiveness, Cost-utility, Cost-benefit and Budget impact analysis
 
Dr. Karikalan, Scientist -D, ICMR-NIRT, highlighted the collaborative HTA activities with NIS and discussed opportunities for integrating traditional systems like Siddha into evidence-based health decision-making. 
 
A discussion session was held to explore the scopes and opportunities for applying HTA in efficient healthcare resource allocation in Tamil Nadu. 
 
The event concluded with a vote of thanks and way forward note by Prof. Dr. P. Shanmugapriya, Professor, Dept of Nanju maruthuvam. 
 
Nearly 150 participants, including postgraduate students, Ph.D. scholars, and staff members, benefitted from the orientation, gaining deeper insights into HTA and its relevance in enhancing healthcare delivery through Siddha and allied systems.
