On the account of World Breastfeeding week 2024, an awareness programme about the benefits and importance of Breastmilk to pregnant and lactating women was conducted at Anganwadi centres of Nazarethpet, Agaramel and Poonamalle, on 6 th August 2024.
As per the instruction of the Director NIS, Prof.Dr. R. Meenakumari, and the with the guidance of Prof. Dr. M. Meenakshi Sundaram, HOD, Department of Kuzhandhai Maruthuvam, Dr. K. Vennila, Associate professor and Dr. K. Rajeswari, Assistant Professor of Department of Kuzhandhai Maruthuvam delivered awareness speech about ‘Benefits of Colostrum and Breastmilk, positions of breastfeeding, foods that enhance the breastmilk secretion, methods of collecting and storing breastmilk. About 150 women were benefited through this awareness programme.
A Siddha Galact Kit which contains Maadhulai Manapagu and Sathaaveri lactoboost powder along with a pamphlet containing necessary information about breastfeeding were distributed to pregnant and lactating Women. Mrs. Sangeetha, CDPO organized the programme in grand manner with warm welcome speech. Mrs. Florence Anganwadi Supervisor, Poonamalle delivered Vote of thanks.
