As part of 8th International Day of Yoga (IDY) 2022 and Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, Government of India has celebrated this event at 75 iconic locations across the country in collaboration with the State Governments/UTs, Yoga Organisations, Public and Private Sectors. The main focus of this IDY is Branding India on the Global stage while showcasing India’s Unity in Diversity through these 75 iconic sites with theme “Yoga for Humanity”.
 
The Ministry has selected National Institute of Siddha as lead organization for organizing the Yoga demonstration programme at the Shore Temple, Mamallapuram along with the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment and Directorate General of Lighthouses & Lightships.
 
The event was conducted between 6.00 am and 9.00 am on 21.06.2022. Shri. A. Narayanaswamy, Hon’ble Minister of State, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Govt. of India has been participated as the Chief guest and led the programme at Shore Temple, Mahabalipuram, Tamilnadu – one of the 75 iconic places of India.
 
Prof. Dr. R. Meenakumari, Director, National Institute of Siddha, Chennai, Shri. R.K.Verma, Deputy Director General, Directorate General of Lighthouses and Lightships, Noida, Dr. Sanjay Tyagi, Director, Software Technology Parks of India, Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology, Govt. of India, Shri. Karthick Chensundar, Director, Directorate General of Lighthouses and Lightships, Chennai and Shri. Rahul Nath, District Collector, Chengalpattu District graced the occasion with felicitation.
 
About 1000 persons were participated in this Mega Event from National Institute of Siddha, Other Siddha Medical Colleges located around Chennai, Children from various schools and members from various government offices
