The National Institute of Traditional Medicine (NITM) in Belagavi, Karnataka, and ICMR marked a significant milestone by hosting a groundbreaking convention on March 14th and 15th, 2024. This event brought together key stakeholders for a two-day exploration of integrative health solutions for infectious diseases.

The convention was inaugurated by the esteemed Padmashree Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha, Secretary, Ministry of Ayush, Govt. of India, who also delivered the inaugural address.

Prof. Dr. R. Meenakmari, Director of NIS, participated as a member and shared invaluable insights on Siddha integrative health solutions. The event featured three parallel sessions focusing on critical health challenges: Viral Hepatitis, Dengue, Chikungunya, and microbial resistance.

The convention began with a warm welcome from Dr. Subarna Roy, Director of ICMR-NITM, followed by an opening address by Dr. Rajiv Bahl, DG, ICMR & Secretary, DHR. Dr. Shiv Sarin from ILBS, New Delhi, enriched our discussions with an address on viral hepatitis. A heartfelt vote of thanks was given by Dr. Jyothi Bhat, Scientist –F, wrapping up this impactful gathering.

Looking ahead, the National Institute of Siddha is excited about potential collaborative research opportunities on infectious diseases and public health initiatives. This event has set the stage for innovative integrations of traditional and modern medicine, promising a healthier future for all.
